Hoodia Gordonii pill for weight loss treatment

Hoodia Gordonii is a cactus plant that grows in Kalahari Desert of the South Africa. It has been used for centuries by the Xhomani Sans tribes of this desert to suppress their appetite during long hunting trips. This plant gives the San bushmen a feeling of being full once they ingest it, and they can then continue without food for many days.

One drug has been developed from the Hoodia Gordonii plant and is known as P57. Its clinical trials have shown that it helps people lower their food intake by about 30-40%. This drug works naturally in the hypothalamus part of the brain. The hypothalamus contains glucose sensors that are sensitive to the blood sugar level. After the food is digested, this blood sugar level rises and as a result the glucose sensors signal the brain about fullness. The Hoodia molecule works in exactly the same manner, but is about 1000 times more active than glucose. The glucose sensors catch this in the hypothalamus and quickly signal the brain about fullness even if you have eaten less food.
